Ingredients
- Rice-1 cup
- Channa dal-2tsp
- Peppercorns-1/2tsp
- Salt-to taste
- Curry leaves-5-6
- Mustard Seeds-1/2 tsp
- Asafeotida
- Cumin seeds
- Chillies-2
- Wash and dry rice .
- Slightly fry the rice 3-4 mins.
- Coarsely grind the rice.
- Add oil in pan once hot enough add mustard,cumin seeds,curry leaves channa dal asafeotida,chillies.
- Add 2 cups water and salt.
- Bring it to boil.
- Add coarse rice slowly and mix well.
- Cover with lid for couple of mins.
- It takes about 15-18 mins for the upma to be cooked.
- Serve hot with chutney.
