Ingredients
- Toor dal -3/4 cup
- Brinjals-2
- Salt to taste
- Tamarind-small piece
- Tomato-1
- Chillies-3
- Sambar pwd-2tsp
- Onion -1
- Ginger & Garlic paste-1tsp
- Turmeric pwd
- Oil
- Water
- Mustard seeds
- Curry leaves
- Cumin seeds
- Asafoetida
- Coriander leaves-garnish
- Cook Toor dal in water and keep aside .
- In a pan add oil to fry onions ,tomato ,brinjal ,ginger-garlic paste.
- Once they soften add salt turmeric pwdand sambar pwd.
- Now add cooked dal and mash all ingredients with a masher.
- Now add Tamarind water and let it boil 2-3 mins.
- Remove from heat and set aside.
- For seasoning in a small pan add 2tsp oil once hot enough.
- Add mustard,jeera seed ,curry leaves and hing.
- Pour the entire seasoning into cooked dal.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with rice .
