Rice Upma


Ingredients

  1. Rice-1 cup
  2. Channa dal-2tsp
  3. Peppercorns-1/2tsp
  4. Salt-to taste
  5. Curry leaves-5-6
  6. Mustard Seeds-1/2 tsp
  7. Asafeotida
  8. Cumin seeds
  9. Chillies-2
Directions

  • Wash and dry rice .
  • Slightly fry the rice 3-4 mins.
  • Coarsely grind the rice.
  • Add oil in pan once hot enough add mustard,cumin seeds,curry leaves channa dal asafeotida,chillies.
  • Add 2 cups water and salt.
  • Bring it to boil.
  • Add coarse rice slowly and mix well.
  • Cover with lid for couple of mins.
  • It takes about 15-18 mins for the upma to be cooked.
  • Serve hot with chutney.
